“Train to Busan” Director’s Netflix Original, “The Bequeathed”, Confirms Release Date

Netflix original The Bequeathed has confirmed its release for January 19 and unveiled a teaser and a poster. 

The Bequeathed tells the story of Yoon Seo Ha (Kim Hyun Joo), who inherits the family’s gravesite from her late uncle. From then on, she experiences mysterious incidents, which Detective Choi Seong Jun (Park Hee Soon) suspects to be linked to the gravesite. 

Yeon Sang Ho, celebrated for hits like Train to Busan, Hellbound and Psychokinesis, is directing and penning the script of the K-drama.  

This series marks the directorial debut of Min Hong Nam, who has collaborated extensively with director Yeon Sang Ho as an assistant director in Train to BusanPsychokinesis, and Peninsula. 

The teaser poster captures a grim scene that suggests a death has taken place. The dead body outline, the police car standing behind it, the huge mountains, and the eerie old tree give a haunting ambience.

The teaser features Kim Hyun JooPark Hee SoonPark Byung Eun, and Ryu Kyung Soo entangled in the chaos surrounding the mysterious incidents.  

Yoon Seo Ha (Kim Hyun Joo) receives the news of the death of her uncle, whom she never visited, and inherits the family legacy left behind since she is the only blood relative. However, her stepbrother Kim Young Ho (Ryu Kyung Soo) appears before her, claiming his right to the property and pressuring her. 

Soon, mysterious murders follow in the village, prompting police officers Choi Seong Jun (Park Hee Soon) and Park Sang Min (Park Byung Eun) to start an investigation. As they delve deeper, dark secrets come to light. The teaser comes to a conclusion with scenes showing gunshots shot in the dark, ominous talismans, and blood splattered on a door, leaving viewers intrigued about the mysteries behind the graveyard Yoon Seo Ha inherited.
