In the upcoming Monday-Tuesday tvN drama, titled Twinkling Watermelon, Shin Eun Soo will take on the role of young Cheong Ah, the mother of Eun Gyeol (Ryeoun) in her youth.

Twinkling Watermelon tells the story of a CODA (child of deaf adults) boy, Eun Gyeol (Ryeoun), with a talent for music. One day, he mysteriously finds himself in the year 1995, where he meets his father (a high school student) and forms a band with him and the young people he meets there.

In the drama, Cheong Ah is the only daughter of a musical instrument manufacturing company’s president and was born with a hearing impairment. Cheong Ah has lived in the world of silence since birth, expressing herself only through drawings, and written words. Instead of sound, she uses art to convey her emotions, and that’s why she paints.

Cheong Ah, amidst her suffering, resonates with the painter Frida Kahlo, who painted “Viva La Vida” (Long Live Life) even in the midst of pain, when death was fast approaching. Like Frida Kahlo, she holds a tremendous hope under her fragile exterior, that her life could also sparkle someday.

As if in response to Cheong Ah’s hope, a person unexpectedly comes into her quiet life, bringing a turn of events. It’s the passionate young man Lee Chan (Choi Hyun Wook), who is fond of Se Kyeong (Seol In Ah), who goes to the same school as him.

The production team of Twinkling Watermelon commented, “When you see Shin Eun Soo as Cheong Ah, you will naturally empathize with the character’s emotions”.

Twinkling Watermelon premieres on September 25th on Viki
