Lee Sang Bo Returns to the Small Screens with KBS Weekend K-Drama “Elegant Empire”

Actor Lee Sang Bo is returning to acting after his drug issue in the past.

On July 7th, it was officially confirmed that Lee Sang Bo will be joining the upcoming KBS daily K-drama Elegant Empire

Last year, actor Lee Sang Bo was suspected of taking drugs while he was on his way to a convenience store after drinking tranquilizers and beer. Since then, Lee Sang Bo has been labeled as a “drug actor” because of false reports. 

Lee Sang Bo repeatedly claimed his innocence. He also confessed that he lost his parents and sister in an accident in 2009 and suffered from depression while living alone. The actor also shared that his abnormal behavior was because of his habitual drinking and taking depression drugs.

The actor shared his thoughts on having another opportunity. He shared, “I am happy with the new opportunity but more than that, I have a greater sense of responsibility. Many people showed their support and concern and this opportunity will be my medium to repay these people.”

Lee Sang Bo also shared his gratitude to director Park Gi Ho who will work on Elegant Empire. The actor shared that director Park Gi Ho offered him this upcoming K-drama. He also shared that the director has often contacted him to know his well-being.

Director Park Gi Ho and Lee Sang Bo worked together before in the K-drama Miss Monte-Cristo. After his incident last year, the director always checks up on Lee Sang Bo and even gave him a new opportunity to return to acting.

Elegant Empire will showcase how justice was trampled by power and hidden truths. It will also reveal the revenge between two men and women to 

The upcoming K-drama will be led by Han Ji Wan, Kim Jin Woo, Kang Yul, Son Sung Yoon, and Kim Ga Ran. 

Lee Sang Bo will play the role of Na Seung Pil. He is the CEO of NA Entertainment. He was formerly part of Elegant Imperial Entertainment but decided to create his own company. He takes care of his colleagues, especially Jang Woo Hyuk, Kang Yul’s character. 

The upcoming K-drama will be the next work of the Miss Monte-Cristo production team.

 Elegant Empire will premiere on August 7th and it will air exclusively on KBS2.
