The Coupang Play series Boys’ Generation (tentative title) has confirmed its release for the latter half of this year and unveiled its casting lineup. Boys’ Generation is a Coupang Play series that tells the story of a loner named Byung Tae, whose lifelong goal is not to get involved with anyone and live quietly in Buyeo in 1989 but becomes the boss of Buyeo.
Joining him is Lee Sun Bin, who left a strong impression with her distinctive acting in the drama Work Later, Drink Now, taking on the role of Buyeo’s ‘Black Spider’ Park Ji Young. Rising star Lee Shi Woo and Kang Hye Won, both steadily building their filmography, play pivotal roles as Asan White Tiger’s Jung Kyung Tae and high school student Kang Sun Hwa, respectively, adding to the anticipation.
The Coupang Play series Boys’ Generation, directed by Lee Myung Woo, known for producing numerous hit works such as dramas The Fiery Priest, Backstreet Rookie, and Coupang Play series One Ordinary Day, has been filming since June of this year. Set in the 1980s, when only the strong survive in the rural area of Buyeo, the drama portrays the struggles of high school student Byung Tae, who suddenly becomes the school’s boss overnight, delivering an engaging story filled with intriguing challenges. Set against the backdrop of the distinctive humor of the Chungcheong Province and its warmth, the drama is expected to bring a fresh and unprecedented level of enjoyment.
The meeting between the trending actor Yim Si Wan and hitmaker director Lee Myung Woo has raised anticipation for Boys’ Generation, which will be available on Coupang Play in the latter half of this year.
